FAQ

Legal, medical, and usage questions about Medicinal Cannabis in Costa Rica.

Yes, it is fully legal under Law No. 10113 (Law on Cannabis for Medicinal and Therapeutic Use and Hemp for Food and Industrial Use). This law regulates the use, marketing, and control of products authorized by the Ministry of Health to guarantee safe access for patients who need it.

CannaSafe System is a platform focused on education, guidance, and traceability for the safe use of medicinal cannabis. Our goal is to connect scientific knowledge and proper guidance with people seeking alternative treatments, making sure they know the safe routes of administration, dosing, and quality control.

For products containing high concentrations of THC, Costa Rican law requires evaluation and prescription by a licensed healthcare professional. Products based exclusively on CBD (derived from industrial hemp) are freely sold, as long as they have the corresponding health registration from the Ministry of Health.

That is CannaSafe's main concern. A safe product should come with a COA (Certificate of Laboratory Analysis) verifying that the cannabinoid percentage is accurate and that it is 100% free of contaminants such as mold, pesticides, or heavy metals. Avoid the black market or artisanal products without clear labeling.

Treatments predominantly based on CBD do not cause addiction or psychoactive effects (they don't get you "high"). THC, administered under medical supervision in controlled therapeutic doses, is very safe, although it can cause dry mouth, mild drowsiness, or changes in appetite. The risk drops drastically when following a plan guided by professionals rather than self-medication.
